1. Click the picture (picture: A file (such as a metafile) that you can ungroup and manipulate as two or more objects or a file that stays as a single object (such as bitmaps).), AutoShape (AutoShapes: A group of ready-made shapes that includes basic shapes, such as rectangles and circles, plus a variety of lines and connectors, block arrows, flowchart symbols, stars and banners, and callouts.), or WordArt (WordArt: Text objects you create with ready-made effects to which you can apply additional formatting options.) that you want to resize.
2. Do one of the following:

   Resize manually

   1. Position the mouse pointer over one of the sizing handles.
   2. To increase or decrease the size in one or more directions, drag the sizing handle away from or toward the center, while doing one of the following:
      • To keep the center of an object in the same place, hold down CTRL while you drag the sizing handle.
      • To maintain the object's proportions, hold down SHIFT while you drag the sizing handle.

      • To both maintain the object's proportions and keep its center in the same place, hold down both CTRL and SHIFT while you drag the sizing handle.

      Release the mouse button, and then release CTRL or SHIFT.

   Resize to an exact height and width

   1. On the Format menu, click the command for the type of object that you selected — for example, AutoShape or Picture.
   2. On the Size tab, under Size and rotate, enter measurements for the height and width of the object.
   3. Make sure that the Lock aspect ratio check box is cleared.

   Resize to an exact proportion

   1. On the Format menu, click the command for the type of object that you selected — for example, AutoShape or Picture.
   2. On the Size tab, under Scale, type the percentages of the current width and height that you want to resize to.
   3. Make sure that the Lock aspect ratio check box is cleared.

Note   If you are having trouble resizing the picture the way you want, either the Resize AutoShape to fit text option or the Lock aspect ratio option is selected. Do one or both of the following:

• On the Format menu, click AutoShape or Text Box, and then click the Text Box tab. Clear the Resize AutoShape to fit text check box.
• On the Format menu, click the command for the type of object that you selected — for example, AutoShape or Picture. Click the Size tab, and then clear the Lock aspect ratio check box.
