Change the bullet style in a list

ShowChange the bullet style for a single list

  1. Select the text or list whose bullet style you want to change.
  2. On the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering, and then click the Bulleted tab.
  3. Do any of the following:

    ShowChange the bullet character

    Do one of the following:

    • Click one of the bullet styles.

    • Click Customize to choose from a range of bullet characters and fonts in the Symbol dialog box.

    • Click Picture to choose a picture bullet from the Clip Organizer. In the Picture Bullet dialog box, click a picture, and click OK. To add one of your own pictures to this dialog box, click Import, select the file you want, and click Add.

Note   If Clip Organizer is not installed on your computer, the Insert Picture dialog box appears when you click Picture in the Bullets and Numbering dialog box.

    ShowChange the bullet size

    • To change the size, click the arrows in the Size box.

    ShowChange the bullet color

    • Click the arrow next to Color, and either select a color from the eight choices — which represent the current color scheme — or click More Colors for additional choices.

ShowChange the bullet style throughout a presentation

If you're using one slide master (slide master: The main slide that stores information about the theme and layouts of a presentation, including the background, color, fonts, effects, placeholder sizes, and positions.), you can change the bullet style on the master and the change is reflected throughout the presentation. If you are using multiple slide masters (such as when you have applied more than one design template (design template: A file that contains the styles in a presentation, including the type and size of bullets and fonts; placeholder sizes and positions; background design and fill color schemes; and a slide master and optional title master.) to your presentation), you must change the bullet style on each master.
  1. On the View menu, point to Master, and then click Slide Master.
  2. On the slide master, select the body text levels to which you want to apply the bullet style.
  3. On the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering, and then click the Bulleted tab.

    • Select a number in the Size box.

    ShowChange the bullet color

    • Click the arrow next to Color, and either select a color from the eight choices — which represent the current color scheme — or click More Colors for additional choices.

  5. On the Slide Master View toolbar, click Close Master View.

Note   If, before you changed the master styles, you changed the bullet style on any slides in your presentation, those changes won't be affected by style changes to the master.
