Insert page numbers, slide numbers, or date and time anywhere on a slide

  1. On the slide, position the insertion point in the placeholder (placeholders: Boxes with dotted or hatch-marked borders that are part of most slide layouts. These boxes hold title and body text or objects such as charts, tables, and pictures.) or text box (text box: A movable, resizable container for text or graphics. Use text boxes to position several blocks of text on a page or to give text a different orientation from other text in the document.) that you want to add the date and time or slide number to.
  2. On the Insert menu, click either Slide Number or Date and Time.

ShowTip

To add a slide number or date and time to every slide, on the View menu, click Header and Footer, and then select the appropriate options. The slide number and date and time are positioned in default placeholders on the slide. You can change the position of these placeholders on the slide master (slide master: The slide that stores information about the design template applied, including font styles, placeholder sizes and positions, background design, and color schemes.).
