Select a default view

When you select a default view, Microsoft PowerPoint will always open in that view. Among the views available are slide view, outline view, and variations on normal view.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the View tab.
  2. Under Default View, select the view you want.

Note  By default, PowerPoint displays normal view with the Outline tab open. Changes you make to the size of panes in the view or to the view itself are saved and redisplayed with the presentation in which you made the changes, but those customizations are not saved outside that presentation. To make the default view apply every time you open PowerPoint, follow the steps above.
