Put your best fonts forward in PowerPoint 97/2000

You spend a lot of time and energy making your slides look just right. However, if the computer you use to show your presentation does not have the same fonts as the one you created your presentation on, that time and energy is wasted when the fonts are replaced with default fonts.

Luckily, Microsoft PowerPoint® lets you store the fonts you need with your presentation. The process of storing fonts with a presentation is called "embedding fonts."

How to Determine Which Fonts Will Be Embedded Properly

Not all fonts will be embedded properly. To tell if your font will be embedded, click Font on the Format menu. If the letters "TT" appear next to the font name, then the font is a TrueType font and should be embedded correctly. However, some TrueType fonts are restricted in use. PowerPoint will display a message if you try to embed a restricted font.

To embed fonts in your presentation

  1. On the File menu, click Save As.
  2. Click the Tools menu in the toolbar at the top of the Save As dialog box.
  3. On the menu that appears, click Embed TrueType Fonts. You will need to do this each time you plan to use a presentation on a different machine.

The fonts are now embedded in your presentation. Now when you show your slides on another computer - for example, on a computer at your client's office - they will look just as fantastic as they did on the computer in your office.

Note  Embedding fonts will increase the size of your presentation.
