Work on Your Presentation as a Whole in Normal View

If you've worked with Microsoft PowerPoint® before, you'll notice something different right away when you open a presentation in PowerPoint 2000: the new default view, called normal view or "tri-pane" view.

If you're working with PowerPoint for the first time, normal view gives you an easy way to work on and view all aspects of your presentation in one place.

Outline, Slides, and Notes in One Place

Normal view contains three panes: the outline pane, the slide pane, and the notes pane. You can enter text in any of the three panes and you can work with graphics in the slide pane.

To get the workspace you want, drag the pane borders to adjust the size of the different panes, or click the view buttons in the lower-left corner of the PowerPoint window. You can move from pane to pane by clicking in the pane you want or by pressing F6 to cycle between panes.

For information about ways to expand the slide pane, see A Quick Return to Traditional Slide View in PowerPoint 2000.
