Get an overview of PowerPoint 2000 with the online tutorial

If you're new to Microsoft PowerPoint® or you want a quick refresher course on how to create presentations, take a look at "Introduction to PowerPoint," the online tutorial that comes with PowerPoint 2000. It has five sections:

Get to know PowerPoint Covers the basics of PowerPoint, including information about working in the new normal view.

Create your first presentation Tells you how to create a presentation using the AutoContent Wizard and how to create one from scratch.

Customize your first presentation Discusses design templates, color schemes, drawings, charts, WordArt, clip art, multimedia, as well as how to make a change once and have it appear on every slide.

Present your first presentation Tells you about presenting an on-screen slide show and creating overheads, handouts, speaker notes, and presentations on the Web.

Where to get more help and tips Includes a link that lets you view the source file for the PowerPoint tutorial - itself a PowerPoint presentation - so that you can see what techniques were used to create it.

Many of the topics in the tutorial include links to Help, where you can find step-by-step instructions.

To view the online tutorial "Introduction to PowerPoint"

  1. Do one of the following:
    Click the Office Assistant.
If you are not using the Office Assistant, click Microsoft PowerPoint Help on the Help menu, and then click the Answer Wizard tab.
  2. In the box provided, type tutorial and then click Search.
  3. In the list of topics that appears, click View PowerPoint Introduction, the online tutorial.
If you are not using the Office Assistant, you may not have to click the topic. Because it is the first choice in the list, it appears automatically in the topic pane to the left of the list.

  5. Click Show Me in the Help topic.
  6. If you see a message asking you whether you want to disable or enable macros, click Enable Macros. If you don't enable macros, some sections of the tutorial may not work correctly. For example, links to Help will not work.
