Power your editing with new views in PowerPoint

Applies to
Microsoft Office PowerPoint® 2003
Microsoft PowerPoint® 2002

In Microsoft PowerPoint, new views and view options help you create and edit presentations. These include:

  • The Slides tab
  • Print preview
  • The option to select a preferred default view

How the Slides tab helps you work

The Slides tab is new within normal view. In addition to the outline, slide pane, and notes pane, you now can also see your slides in thumbnail versions that show their design and formatting.

The Slides tab shows thumbnail versions of your slides.

The Slides tab alternates with the Outline tab on the left side of normal view. As you edit, use the Slides tab to:

  • See many slides at once to get an overall sense of your presentation, including the design elements.
  • See which slides a design template has been applied to — especially handy if you are using multiple design templates.
  • Navigate through your slides.
  • Reorder slides using drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste.
  • Delete slides.
  • Copy and paste slides between presentations. To do this, open two presentations, and on the Window menu, click Arrange All. Then copy/cut and paste, or drag and drop, between the Slides tabs.
  • Preview animations and slide transitions by clicking the small star on the left of the slide thumbnail.
  • See the slides that are affected by changes you make to the slide master.
