The small print: headers and footers

Click Play to see the look and placement of headers and footers on slides, handouts, notes, and outlines.

You'll be familiar with this small print as the date, numbers, and special text such as "Draft" that show at the bottom of slides or in the corners of handouts.

In PowerPoint lingo, these bits of information are called headers and footers. They're a small part of a presentation, but they're important nonetheless.

The animation on the left shows you where headers and footers are typically placed on a slide and on your printed material, including handouts, notes, and outlines.
