Applying headers and footers to a printout.
We've mentioned headers and footers several times. Here's how they work: In print preview, you've decided on the appropriate printout type and you're almost ready to print; you just need to apply headers and footers to the printout, for example the date, text such as "Confidential," and page numbers.
Do this by using the Header and Footer dialog box, opened from the print preview Options menu.
Options for notes and handouts
If you select the Notes and Handouts tab in this dialog box, your choices are date and time, header text, footer text, and page number.
Your settings here apply to all types of handouts, to notes pages, and to outlines. They don't apply to your slides or to the slides printout type.
If you select the Slides tab in this dialog box, you can add date and time, slide number, and footer text to your slides. The same settings apply to the slides printout.
Note If you want a slide number on the page next to each slide, rather than on the slide image itself, you need to print using Word. You'll see how in the next lesson.
