Change horizontal text to vertical text

The feature or some of the options described in this Help topic are only available if support for Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, or Korean is enabled through Microsoft Office Language Settings.

  1. Select the placeholder (placeholders: Boxes with dotted borders that are part of most slide layouts. These boxes hold title and body text or objects such as charts, tables, and pictures.) containing the text you want to change.
  2. On the Formatting toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, press ALT and then SHIFT+F10.), click Change Text Direction Button image.

Note   The conversion to vertical text applies to all of the text within the selected placeholder. For example, if the placeholder you want to change contains both English and East Asian text, the text direction for all the text within the placeholder changes to vertical.

To change vertical text back to horizontal text, select the placeholder containing the text you want to change, and then on the Formatting toolbar, click Change Text Direction Button image again.
