Change a diagram

Applies to: Microsoft Office Excel 2003, PowerPoint 2003, Word 2003

 

Click the diagram and do one or more of the following:

ShowAdd or delete a shape or element

ShowMove an element or segment

  1. Select the element or segment of the diagram that you want to move.
  2. On the Diagram toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, press ALT and then SHIFT+F10.), click Move shape forward or Move shape backward.

ShowReverse the diagram

  1. Select the element or segment of the diagram that you want to reverse.
  2. On the Diagram toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, press ALT and then SHIFT+F10.), click Reverse diagram Button image.

ShowChange text color

  1. Select the text you want to change.
  2. On the Drawing toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, press ALT and then SHIFT+F10.), click the arrow next to Font Color Button image.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To change the text color back to its default, click Automatic.
    • To change to another color, click one of the colors below Automatic.

ShowAdd or change text

  • To add or change text to a shape, right-click the shape, click Edit Text, and type the text.

For target (Target diagram: A diagram that is used to show steps toward a goal.) and cycle (Cycle diagram: A diagram that is used to show a process that has a continuous cycle.) diagrams, you can only add text to text elements.

ShowChange the preset design scheme

ShowChange a shape or element fill color

  1. Select the shape you want to change.
  2. On the Drawing toolbar, click the arrow next to Fill Color Button image.
  3. Do one or more of the following:

ShowAdd or change a fill color

Do one of the following:

  • To change the fill color back to its default, click Automatic.
  • To change to a color in the color scheme, click one of the colors below Automatic.

ShowAdd or change a gradient, patterned, textured, or picture fill

  1. Click Fill Effects, and then click the Gradient, Texture, Picture or Pattern tab.
  2. Select the options you want.

ShowRemove a fill

  • Click No Fill.

ShowChange the line style or color

  1. Select the line or connector you want to change.
  2. Do one of the following:

ShowChange the color of a line or connector

  1. On the Drawing toolbar, click the arrow next to Line Color Button image.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • To change to the default color, click Automatic.
    • To change to another color, click one of the colors below Automatic.

ShowChange the style of a line or connector

  1. On the Drawing toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, press ALT and then SHIFT+F10.), click Line Style Button image.
  2. Click the style you want; or click More Lines, and then click a style.

ShowChange the diagram to another diagram type
