What are tags?In PerformancePoint Planning Business Modeler, you can define and then use an association
to copy data from a source model to a destination model. An association specifies not only the mapping between two models, but also between their dimensions and dimension members. By using an association, you can be very precise about which source data is copied, how the data is aggregated, and to what destination you copy the data.
In addition, when you create an association between models, you can use a Data Movement job to update the destination model whenever data in the source model changes.
How analysts use an association
- Analysts can use an association to contribute source data to a larger model for reporting or consolidation.
For example, a business user might create a local model for analysis and planning, and then provide the outcomes of the analysis to the corporate model.
- Analysts can use an association to select a segment of a larger model, and then use the segment as a new, self-standing model. For example, a planner might select elements of a corporate model to create a model that represents only a segment of the business. Then, the planner can distribute such segments to the subsidiary divisions that are most concerned with the identified segments.
- Analysts can use an association to select a segment of a larger model, and then integrate the segments into another large model. For example, a forecaster might create a "what-if" model to determine the impact that a local event might have on the entire company.

Identify the source model and destination model that you want to associate. If the destination model does not exist, create a new model. |
| Share required dimensions |
If a single model site owns both the source model and the destination model, PerformancePoint Planning Business Modeler configures dimension sharing automatically. Otherwise, before you can copy dimensions and dimension members from one model to another, you must configure dimension sharing in the source dimension explicitly.
