Create a sample reporting tree definition in Management Reporter

The reporting tree is a visual representation of departments, branch offices, and profit centers within your entity. You can automatically build a reporting tree definition from information in your source system.

The following table shows the hierarchy and the reporting tree definition of the completed sample reporting tree. Use this table as a reference while you are working on the procedure in this section.

Create the sample reporting tree definition

  1. On the File menu, click New, and then click Reporting Tree Definition to display a blank reporting tree definition.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Insert Reporting Units from Source System.
  3. In the Insert Reporting Units from Source System dialog box, in the Segment and Hierarchy section, do the following:
    1. In the Location/Division row, type 1100 in the From Account box, and then type 2200 in the To Account cell.
    2. In the Department row, type 001 in the From Account box, and then type 004 in the To Account box.
    3. Click OK.
  4. On the File menu, click Save, and then do the following:
  • In the Name box, type a unique name for the new reporting tree.
  • In the Description box, type a description for the reporting tree.
