Download headers

Do one of the following:

Manually download headers

• On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive, point to the IMAP account, and then click Download Inbox Headers.

Automatically download headers each time you check e-mail

1. On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive, point to Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups.
2. Click a group that contains your IMAP account, and then click Edit.
3. Under Accounts, click your IMAP account.
4. In the list, select the check box for each folder that you want to include when checking e-mail, and then select Download headers only.

Download selected items in a folder

After you have manually or automatically downloaded headers, you can mark items to be downloaded from the server. When you download messages, they are placed only on your computer. When you delete messages, they are deleted from both your computer and the server.

Mark headers for messages to be downloaded from the server

• In your Inbox, right-click the header, and then click Mark to Download Message(s) on the shortcut menu.

Delete messages from your computer and from the server

• In your Inbox, click the item to delete, and then press DELETE. A red X will appear in the header column.

 Note   You can select multiple items for deletion by holding down CTRL while clicking the messages, and then clicking DELETE.

Download all items in a folder

1. On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive, point to Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups.
2. Click a group that contains your IMAP account, and then click Edit.
3. Under Accounts, click your IMAP account.
4. In the list, select the check box for each folder that you want to include when checking e-mail, and then select Download complete item including attachments.
