Troubleshoot folder home pages

ShowI'm viewing a folder home page offline, and none of the links work

When a folder home page is stored for offline viewing, the targets of the links on the page are stored only if you specify that option.

To specify that pages linked to the folder home page are also stored, do the following:

  1. Right-click the folder, click Properties on the shortcut menu, and then click the Home Page tab.

  2. Click Offline Web Page Settings, and then click the Download tab.

  3. In the Download pages box, enter a number between 1 and 3. If you enter 1, the pages that are linked to the folder home page are stored. If you enter 2, the pages that are linked to the pages that are linked to the folder home page are also stored, and so on.

ShowViewing Web pages offline is very slow

To make offline Web pages load faster, select which elements of the page are stored when the page is updated for offline viewing. For example, if you eliminate sound and video, or Microsoft ActiveX controls and Java applets, Web pages load faster because they require less memory to show. To change which elements are included in offline viewing, do the following:

  1. Right-click the folder, click Properties on the shortcut menu, and then click the Home Page tab.

  2. Click Offline Web Page Settings, and then click the Download tab.

  3. Click Advanced, and then set options in the Advanced Download Options dialog box.
