Download headers and items in an IMAP folder

Applies to: Microsoft Office Outlook 2003

Do one of the following:

Show Download headers only

Show Manually download headers only

On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive, point to the account, and then click Download Inbox Headers.

Show Automatically download headers only each time you check e-mail

On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive, point to Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups.
Click a group that contains your IMAP account, and then click Edit.
Under Accounts, click your IMAP account.
In the list, select the check box for each folder you want to include when checking e-mail, and then select Download headers only.

Show Download some items in a folder

After you have manually or automatically downloaded headers, you can mark items to be downloaded from the server. When you download messages, they are placed only on your computer. When you delete messages, they are removed from both your computer and the server.

Show Mark headers for messages to download from the server

In your Inbox, right-click the header, and then click Mark to Download Message(s) on the shortcut menu.

Show Delete messages from your computer and from the server

In your Inbox, click the item to delete, and press DELETE. A red X will appear in the header column.

Note You can select multiple items for deletion by holding down CTRL while clicking the messages, and then clicking DELETE.

Show Download all items in a folder

On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive, point to Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups.
Click a group that contains your IMAP account, and then click Edit.
Under Accounts, click your IMAP account.
In the list, select the check box for each folder you want to include when checking e-mail, and then select Download complete item including attachments.
