Change the way the spelling checker works

  1. From the main Microsoft Outlook window, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Spelling tab.
  2. Select the options you want.

The following spelling checker options that you set in Outlook apply to both Outlook and Microsoft Word editors:

    • Always check spelling before sending.
    • Ignore original message text in reply or forward.

When set in Outlook, the following options apply only to the Outlook e-mail editor:

    • Always suggest replacements for misspelled words.
    • Ignore words in UPPERCASE.
    • Ignore words with numbers.

Note  For options that apply only to Word, see Word Help.
