Update Outlook with your new e-mail account password
 

If your Internet service provider (ISP) (ISP: A business that provides access to the Internet for such things as electronic mail, chat rooms, or use of the World Wide Web. Some ISPs are multinational, offering access in many locations, while others are limited to a specific region.) has given you a new password for an existing e-mail account, you must update Microsoft Outlook with the new password.

  1. On the Tools menu, click E-mail accounts.
  2. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.
  3. Select the POP3 (POP3: A common protocol that is used to retrieve e-mail messages from an Internet e-mail server.), IMAP (IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol): Unlike Internet e-mail protocols such as POP3, IMAP creates folders on a server to store/organize messages for retrieval by other computers. You can read message headers only and select which messages to download.), or HTTP (HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol): Protocol that is used when you access Web pages from the Internet. Outlook uses HTTP as an e-mail protocol.) e-mail account that you want to update with a new password, and then click Change.
  4. In the Password box, type your new password, and then click Next.
  5. Click Finish.

 Note    Your e-mail account password is separate from the password used to dial your ISP.
