Change your server connection method
 
  1. On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
  2. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.
  3. Select the account, and then click Change.
  4. Click More Settings, and then click the Connection tab.
  5. Do one of the following:

    ShowTo connect using a local area network (LAN) connection, including DSL and cable modems

    • Click Connect using my local area network (LAN).

    ShowTo connect using a traditional (such as 28.8 or 56K) modem

    1. Click Connect using my phone line.
    2. In the Use the following dial-up networking connection box, click the appropriate connection from the list, or click Add and follow the instructions on your screen.

    Note  To disconnect from your modem after you send and receive messages, click the Tools menu, click Options, click the Mail Setup tab, and then check the Hang up when finished with a manual send/receive check box.

    ShowTo connect manually

    • Click Connect using Internet Explorer's or a 3rd party dialer.
