Open an item

Applies to: Microsoft Office Outlook 2003

Go to the item you want to open:
A contact, calendar item, task, note, or received message
- In the Navigation Pane (Navigation Pane: The column on the left side of the Outlook window that includes panes such as Shortcuts or Mail and the shortcuts or folders within each pane. Click a folder to show the items in the folder.), click the button for the type of item (item: An item is the basic element that holds information in Outlook (similar to a file in other programs). Items include e-mail messages, appointments, contacts, tasks, journal entries, notes, posted items, and documents.) you want to open.
An unfinished message
- In the Navigation Pane, click Drafts.
A Journal entry
- On the Go menu, click Journal.
Double-click the item you want to open.

To open the next or previous item, on the toolbar, click Next Item Button image or Previous Item .
