- Close-talk microphone and audio output device
- Microsoft Exchange Server is required for certain advanced functionality in Outlook 2003.

- Internet functionality requires dial-up or broadband Internet access provided separately; local or long-distance charges may apply.
- Certain inking features require running Microsoft Office on the Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.
- Information Rights Management features require access to Windows Server 2003 running Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services.
