Determine the version of Microsoft Exchange my account connects to
 

Some features of Microsoft Exchange accounts depend on the version of Exchange that your account connects to. An example is the Outlook Anywhere feature, which requires Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or later.

To determine the version of Exchange that your account connects to, do the following:

  1. With Microsoft Office Outlook running, press and hold CTRL while you right-click the Outlook icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar.

  2. Click Connection Status.
  3. Move the horizontal slider all the way to the right.
  4.  Note   Under the Version column heading, note the number that appears.

  5. Compare the number with those in the table below.
    Microsoft Exchange Server Version Version
    Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 6.0.4417 or higher
    Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 SP1 6.0.4712 or higher
    Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 SP2 6.0.5762 or higher
    Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 SP3 6.0.6249 or higher
    Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 6.5.6944 or higher
    Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP1 6.5.7226 or higher
    Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2 6.5.7638 or higher
    Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 8.0.685.24 or higher

 Note    Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 can be used with Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 or later.
