Change the Outlook Mobile Service options to send text messages

Multimedia message functionality is not available to wireless service subscribers in the United States. The Outlook Mobile Service is restricted to text messages only in the United States.

If you want to forward Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 items such as reminders or e-mail messages to your mobile device when you are out of the office, you can choose to send them as either text messages or multimedia messages. Forwarding items as text messages is useful when only the crucial information in a message needs to be sent quickly. Also, text messages are usually cheaper to send than multimedia messages.

Specify the format option in Outlook Mobile Service to send text messages

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Preferences tab, under Mobile, click Mobile Options.
  3. Under Mobile Message Format, click Text Message.

Change the delivery options for text messages

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Preferences tab, under Mobile, click Mobile Options.
  3. You can choose the maximum number of messages that you want any forwarded Outlook item to be split into. In the Truncate at first n text messages option, select or type a number between 1 and 20. Any Outlook item that is split into more messages than this number will be truncated, and only the first n messages will be sent, where n is the number you have chosen.
  4. Click OK.
