Delete temporary Internet files and address history

Applies to
Microsoft Office PowerPoint® 2003
Microsoft Office Outlook® 2003
Microsoft Office Word 2003
Microsoft Office Excel 2003
Microsoft Office XP

Microsoft Internet Explorer creates a copy of Web pages that you visit in a local folder, or cache. These temporary Internet files allow the browser to display Web pages more quickly when you visit them again. Internet Explorer also creates a log or history of every Web site address that is typed into the Address line. This log or history lets you find recently visited Web sites by suggesting Web addresses as you type.

To delete temporary Internet files

  1. In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. On the General tab, under Temporary Internet files, click Delete Files.

To delete Internet address history

  1. In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. On the General tab, under History, click Clear History.
