Import your messages and address book from Eudora 6.x

Applies to
Microsoft Office Outlook® 2003
Microsoft Outlook® 2002

Outlook 2002 and 2003 do not support direct import of Qualcomm Eudora 6.x e-mail messages and address books. However, you can import your data into Microsoft Outlook Express and then import the data from Outlook Express into Outlook.

The following procedures require that you first import your data into Outlook Express, which is included with Microsoft Windows® and Microsoft Internet Explorer. After your data is in Outlook Express, you can import the e-mail messages and address book into Outlook.

Important  Attachments are lost during the transfer procedure because Outlook doesn't use the same method to save attachments as Eudora.

Import Eudora 6.x e-mail messages into Outlook Express

  1. Start Outlook Express.

Note  If you removed all menu links to Outlook Express, or you cannot find a link for Outlook Express, click My Computer, and then browse to C:\Program Files\Outlook Express. Double-click the msimn.exe file.

  2. On the File menu, point to Import, and then click Messages.

The Outlook Express Import Wizard opens.

  3. Click Eudora Pro or Light (through v3.0).
  4. Click Next.

If your Eudora data is not found, click Browse, and then navigate to the correct folder.

    Note  The most likely locations include c:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora, c:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora Mail\, or c:\Documents And Settings\user name\Application Data\Qualcomm\Eudora.

  5. Click Next.
  6. Select All Folders, and then click Next.
