To send e-mail over the Internet using your corporate network, you may first need to change the values set for the proxy server so that it will send e-mail outside your corporate network. The proxy server settings used by Outlook 2000 are set in Microsoft Internet Explorer. On the Internet Explorer Tools menu, choose the Internet Options command, and then fill in the proxy server settings information on the Connections tab. For specific information about how to change proxy server settings in Internet Explorer, see Internet Explorer Help.
