Send a link to a public folder in an Outlook message

Applies to
Microsoft Outlook® 2000

If you use Outlook 2000 with Microsoft Exchange Server, you can use public folders. These are folders that can be viewed by all people whose computers connect to the same network server, as long as they have permissions. Sometimes it's useful to alert co-workers to the contents of a specific public folder, and if your organization has many public folders, typing the path to the folder can be inconvenient.

In Outlook 2000 you can send a link to the public folder in an e-mail message, so that when recipients click the link, the folder opens.

To send a link to a public folder in a message

  1. In the Folder List, click the public folder you want to send a link for.
  2. On the File menu, point to Folder, and then click Send Link to This Folder.

Outlook creates a message that has a link to the public folder in the message body. Address and send the message. When recipients click the link, the public folder opens.
