Troubleshoot menus

ShowThe Go To command is missing from the View menu.

The Go To submenu has been renamed Go and has been promoted to be a top-level menu between the View and Tools menus.

ShowThe Favorites menu has disappeared.

The Favorites menu has been removed from the main Microsoft Office Outlook menu. The entire menu can be accessed from within Microsoft Internet Explorer or it can be added back to the main Outlook menu.

To add the Favorites menu back to the main menu, first you add the menu back, and then you add the commands to the menu.

ShowAdd the menu back

  1. On the Tools menu, click Customize.
  2. Click the Commands tab.
  3. In the Categories list, click New Menu.
  4. In the Commands list, click New Menu, and then drag it to the main menu.
  5. Right-click the new menu, type Favorites in the Name box on the shortcut menu (shortcut menu: A menu that shows a list of commands relevant to a particular item. To display a shortcut menu, right-click an item or press SHIFT+F10.), and then press ENTER.

ShowAdd the commands to the Favorites menu

  1. In the Categories list, click Favorites.
  2. In the Commands list, click Add to Favorites, and drag it without releasing the mouse, until it rests over the Favorites menu you added above. When the menu displays, point to where you want the command to appear, and then release the mouse.
  3. In the Commands list, click Organize Favorites, and drag it without releasing the mouse, until it rests over the Favorites menu you added above. When the menu displays a list of commands, point to where you want the command to appear, and then release the mouse.
  4. Click Close.

ShowMy News command has disappeared.

The News command has been removed from the Go To submenu (View menu), but it can be added back so that you can quickly start the default newsreader.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Customize.
  2. Click the Commands tab.
  3. In the Categories list, click Go.
  4. In the Commands list, click News, and drag it without releasing the mouse, until it rests over the Go menu. When the menu displays a list of commands, point to where you want the command to appear, and then release the mouse.

ShowThe Web Browser command has disappeared.

The Web Browser command has been removed from the Go To submenu (View menu). You can open your default Web browser or add the command back to the Go menu.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Customize.
  2. Click the Commands tab.
  3. In the Categories list, click Go.
  4. In the Commands list, click Web Browser, and drag it without releasing the mouse, until it rests over the Go menu. When the menu displays a list of commands, point to where you want the command to appear, and then release the mouse.

ShowMy Internet Call command has disappeared.

The Internet Call command has been removed from the Go To submenu (View menu). You can start a Microsoft NetMeeting in the meeting request or add the command back to the Go menu.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Customize.
  2. Click the Commands tab.
  3. In the Categories list, click Go.
  4. In the Commands list, click Internet Call, and drag it without releasing the mouse, until it rests over the Go menu. When the menu displays a list of commands, point to where you want the command to appear, and then release the mouse.
