Save an attachment

Do one of the following:

ShowSave an attachment from within an item

  1. Open (or preview) the item that contains the attachment you want to open.
  2. In the item, right-click the icon for the attachment, and then click Save As.
  3. In the Save Attachment dialog box, choose a folder location.
  4. In the File name box, you can type a new name for the file, then click Save.

 Note   If the item includes more than one attachment, you can save multiple attachments to the same location. In the message, on the File menu, click Save Attachments. Select the attachments you want to save from the list, then click OK. You can hold down CTRL while clicking the attachment name to select multiple attachments.

ShowSave an attachment without opening the item

  1. To select the item, click the item that contains the attachment.
  2. On the File menu, point to Save Attachments, and then click the name of the attachment that you want to save.
  3. In the Save Attachment dialog box, choose a folder location.
  4. In the File name box, you can type a new name for the file, then click Save.

 Note   If the item includes more than one attachment, you can save multiple attachments to the same location. Click the item that contains the attachments. On the Microsoft Outlook File menu, click Save Attachments, and then click All Attachments. On the Save All Attachments dialog box, select the attachments you want to save from the list (by default, all the attachments are selected), then click OK. You can hold down CTRL while clicking the attachment name to clear the selection.
