Remove or change backgrounds and stationery on replies and forwards

Applies to: Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

Outlook supports many options for customizing e-mail messages, including the use of background colors and images. However, someone else's choice of a background color or image might not match what you would want to use, if you were to forward or reply to their message. You can easily remove these customized elements or replace them with your own customizations.

What do you want to do?

Remove the background color or stationery

  1. Select the e-mail message, and then click Reply, Reply to All, or Forward.
  2. On the Options tab, in the Themes group, click Page Color.

Outlook Ribbon

  1. Click No Color.

  2. On the Options tab, in the Themes group, click Page Color.

Outlook Ribbon

  1. Click a new color for the message background.

Change the stationery

  1. Select the e-mail message, and then click Reply, Reply to All, or Forward.
  2. On the Options tab, in the Themes group, click Page Color, and then click Fill Effects.

Options in the Fill Effects dialog box include background color gradients, textures, and tiled pictures.

  1. Click OK to apply your changes.
