Remove an Outlook.com account from Outlook

If you no longer want to send and receive Outlook.com (formerly Hotmail) e-mail messages from within Outlook, the E-mail Accounts Wizard helps you quickly remove all Outlook.com messages and folders from Outlook. After you remove your Outlook.com e-mail account from Outlook, you can still use your Outlook.com account with your Web browser.

Remove an Outlook.com e-mail account

  1. In Outlook, on the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
  2. Click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.
  3. Click the account you want to remove, and then click Remove.
  4. Click Yes to confirm that you want to remove the account.
  5. Click Finish.
