Reinstall Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant

When you install Microsoft Office Professional Plus with subscription licensing, you must verify your subscription by signing in with your Microsoft Online Services ID and password every 30 days. Otherwise, the Office product loses all editing functionality—goes into Reduced Functionality mode.

To verify your subscription, you must have the Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant installed on your computer. If you don’t have the Sign-in Assistant installed, Office tries to install it for you. If for any reason it doesn’t get installed, you’ll receive a message with additional instructions.

Verify the Sign-in Assistant is installed

  1. In Control Panel, click Programs, and then click Programs and Features.
  2. Verify that Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant is in the list.
  3. Do one of the following:
  • If you don’t see Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant in the list, follow the steps in “Install the Sign-in Assistant” section.
  • If you see Microsoft Online Services Sign-in Assistant in the list, follow the steps in the “Uninstall the Sign-in Assistant” section.
