Password is not saved when connecting to an e-mail server

If you have problems saving your e-mail account password, the Microsoft Windows® Registry setting might be incorrect.

Every time that you use Outlook to connect to your POP3 (POP3: A common protocol that is used to retrieve e-mail messages from an Internet e-mail server.) e-mail account, you might be prompted for a password. Even though you selected the Remember this password check box, each time that you send or receive e-mail messages, you might be prompted for your password again.

Microsoft Knowledge Base article 290684 is available to help you correct this behavior by stepping you through the process of removing your user account information from the Protected Storage System Provider subkey in the Windows Registry and entering your password options again in Outlook.

Warning   If you use registry editor incorrectly, you might cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using registry editor incorrectly. Use registry editor at your own risk.
