Get to know your Outlook Calendar

Get to know your Outlook calendar
Know the basic types of Outlook Calendar entries, book activities into your calendar efficiently, and stay on top of important dates with more advanced features such as recurrence and reminders.

About this course

This course includes:

  • Two self-paced lessons and two practice sessions for hands-on experience.
  • A short test at the end of each lesson; tests are not scored.
  • A Quick Reference Card you can take away from the course.

Goals

After completing this course you will be able to:

  • Use the right type of calendar entry for each occasion.
  • Use reminders to remember what's in your calendar.
  • Use recurrence to quickly schedule items that occur more than once.
  • Show time in your calendar according to your needs.

When you write something down in a paper calendar, you don't have much choice about how it's done. You take your pencil — or your pen, if you're brave — and you write it down. Simple.

In Outlook you have choices: for example, you can choose between scheduling a meeting or an appointment, and have it occur repeatedly. Outlook will block out the time in your schedule, helping you to avoid scheduling conflicts with others. And, when it's time to go to a meeting, Outlook will remind you.
