Create or change AutoCorrect entries

Do one of the following:

ShowAdd an entry to the list of automatic corrections

  1. From the main Microsoft Outlook window, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Spelling tab.
  2. Click AutoCorrect Options.
  3. In the Replace box, type a word or phrase that you often mistype or misspell — for example, type usualy.
  4. In the With box, type the correct spelling of the word — for example, type usually.
  5. Click Add.

ShowChange the contents of an entry

  1. From the main Microsoft Outlook window, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Spelling tab.
  2. Click AutoCorrect Options.
  3. Click the entry in the list under the With box.
  4. Type the new entry in the With box.
  5. Click Replace.

ShowRename an entry

  1. From the main Microsoft Outlook window, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Spelling tab.
  2. Click AutoCorrect Options.
  3. In the list under the Replace box, click the entry.
  4. Click Delete.
  5. Type a new name in the Replace box.
  6. Click Add.

ShowPrevent specific capitalization and spelling corrections

  1. From the main Microsoft Outlook window, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Spelling tab.
  2. Click AutoCorrect Options.
  3. Click Exceptions.
  4. Do one or more of the following to prevent AutoCorrect from:

ShowCapitalizing a word you type after a specific abbreviation

  • Click the First Letter tab, and then type the abbreviation (including the period) in the Don't capitalize after box.

ShowCorrecting a word that contains mixed uppercase and lowercase letters

  • Click the INitial CAps tab, and then type the word in the Don't correct box.
  1. Click Add, and then click Close.
