New Tools Now Available in the Office XP Resource Kit

An updated version of the Microsoft® Office XP Resource Kit core tool set is now available that provides new tools, updates, and a number of minor fixes. Key features of the update are as follows:

  • Answer Wizard Builder

Updated for Office XP, the Answer Wizard Builder enables you to add custom content to Office Answer Wizard. For example, you can add information on local printer addresses, or add a series of topics to cover your organization’s own tools and add-ins. The Answer Wizard Builder works by helping you create your own AW files, which are then used by the Answer Wizard to locate topics in response to user’s queries.

  • System Management Server (SMS) package definition files (PDFs)

The updated PDF files enable you to install Office XP remotely using System Management Server 2.0. Two PDF files are included with the update: OFF2002.SMS covers all Office XP product suites; LPK2002.SMS covers the Office XP Multilingual User Interface Packs.

  • Corporate Error Reporting version 1.2

An updated version of the Custom Error Reporting tool is also included with this release. Version 1.2 contains a collection of small fixes designed to help improve the performance and stability of the tool.

Toolbox    The Office XP Resource Kit core tools update consists of one executable file that installs the file Orktools.exe on your computer. You can find this downloadable file on the Office XP Resource Kit Downloads page.

After you download the file, you can double-click the file name to install the tools automatically on your computer. Icons for the new tools will be added to the Microsoft Office XP Resource Kit Tools group on the Start menu during the installation process.
