When you install Microsoft® Office 2003 on a user’s computer and select a Typical installation, Setup installs Office with a default configuration. Some features are installed on the hard drive, some are not installed, and others are installed automatically when the user first uses the feature. If you run Setup and select Custom installation, Setup uses the default configuration as a starting point for your customizations.
A new spreadsheet,
Office 2003 Setup defaults.xls, is now available in the Office 2003 Resource Kit. It documents the default installation
settings
for Office 2003 and
the Office family applications FrontPage®, OneNote®, Project, and Visio®. For each feature, the spreadsheet indicates the default installation state and gives a description. You can use this spreadsheet to view the entire Setup feature tree and plan how to configure Office applications for your users.
Toolbox The Office 2003 Feature Keypaths spreadsheet is available as part of the self-extracting executable (Office_2003_Keypath_And_Default_Installation_Workbooks.exe) from the Microsoft Download Center.
