The package definition files (SMS format) are used by Microsoft® Systems Management Server to install Office remotely. For Microsoft Office 2003, the package definition files are consolidated into two core files: Office11.SMS, which covers all Office 2003 editions, including Microsoft Office Project 2003; and Mui11.SMS, which covers the Microsoft Office 2003 Multilingual User Interface Packs (MUI Packs). Microsoft Office Visio 2003 uses a separate package definition file. You must have Systems Management Server 2.0 with Service Pack 2 to deploy Office 2003 applications.

Download and install the package definition files

The package definition files are automatically installed on your computer when you install the Office Resource Kit.

Toolbox   The Office 2003 Editions Resource Kit toolset (ork.exe) is available as a download. You can find this downloadable file on the Office 2003 Resource Kit Downloads page.

To locate the files, click the Start button, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Tools, point to Microsoft Office Resource Kit, and then click Package Definition Files.

Download the Visio package definition file

A package definition file is also available for Microsoft Office Visio® 2003.

Toolbox   The Visio11.sms file is included in the Visio 2003 administrative tools (VisioRKTools.exe) and is available as a download. You can find this downloadable file on the Office 2003 Resource Kit Downloads page.

The installation program will prompt you to specify a location for the Visio files; the recommended folder is Program Files/ORKTools/ORK11/Tools/Visio.
