You can run Microsoft Office 2000 Setup without any user interaction by using the /qb- command-line option. Appending a minus sign (-) to the /qb option suppresses all modal dialog boxes. This option is particularly useful if you are using software such as Microsoft Systems Management Server to install Office throughout your organization.
When you run Setup by using the /qb command-line option (without the minus sign), Setup shows users only progress indicators and error messages associated with the installation process. However, some error messages display modal dialog boxes, which require a response from the user before Setup can continue. The /qb- option eliminates this required user interaction, and Setup proceeds with no interruptions.
For example, when you run Setup with the /qb- command-line option, the Reboot dialog box is suppressed, and the computer reboots automatically using the default settings in the Reboot dialog box.
Toolbox You can find detailed information about other Setup command-line options and properties in the Setup Reference workbook (SetupRef.xls). See the Office Information section of the Toolbox and download the file Offinfo.exe. You can find this downloadable file on the Office 2000 Resource Kit Downloads page.
