With the release of Microsoft PhotoDraw™ 2000 Version 2, new tools and spreadsheets are available to help you deploy and administer PhotoDraw 2000 Version 2 with the rest of the Microsoft Office 2000 suite. These new resources include the following:
- List of files installed by PhotoDraw 2000 Version 2
- List of ID numbers for customizing error messages in PhotoDraw 2000 Version 2
- Registry setting for deploying on Windows® Terminal Server
- Sample package definition files for deploying with Microsoft Systems Management Server 1.2 or 2.0
Toolbox The Office Resource Kit includes the new tools and reference information for PhotoDraw 2000 Version 2. See the PhotoDraw 2000 Version 2 administration tools section of the Toolbox and download the files you need. You can find this downloadable file on the Office 2000 Resource Kit Downloads page.
Files installed by PhotoDraw 2000 Version 2
The spreadsheet Phd2file.xls includes a complete reference of files that are installed by the Windows Installer during PhotoDraw 2000 Version 2.0 Setup. Download Phd2file.xls from the Office Resource Kit Toolbox and open it in Microsoft Excel.
Custom alerts in PhotoDraw 2000 Version 2
In Office 2000, you can customize error messages, or alerts, to provide additional or updated information about the error that triggered the message. In some message dialog boxes, you can link a custom alert to an external source (such as a Web page). This functionality allows you to add your own information to the error message.
With the release of this version, PhotoDraw 2000 now supports custom alerts. For a list of ID numbers for the error messages that you can customize, download the file Phd2err.xls from the Office Resource Kit Toolbox and open it in Excel.
Registry setting for deploying on Windows Terminal Server
If you install and start PhotoDraw 2000 Version 2 on a Windows Terminal Server computer while logged on as an Administrator, PhotoDraw might display the message "An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Please contact your system administrator."
This message is benign. When you acknowledge the message, PhotoDraw 2000 Version 2 continues to run normally and the message is not displayed again in subsequent sessions. Users other than the Administrator do not see this message.
To permanently suppress this message, download the file Tsuilang.reg from the Office Resource Kit Toolbox. After downloading the file to your computer, right-click the file and then click Merge on the shortcut menu to merge the new setting with your registry.
Configuration settings for deploying with Systems Management Server
Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) is an integrated desktop management solution that you can use to deploy Office 2000 applications – including PhotoDraw 2000 Version 2. By using SMS, you can create software packages and distribute them from a central location to all the users in your organization.
If you are using SMS version 1.2, download the files Phd2.ini and Phd2.pdf from the Office Resource Kit Toolbox to your Office installation point before deploying PhotoDraw 2000 Version 2.
If you are using SMS version 2.0, download the file Phd2.sms from the Office Resource Kit Toolbox to your Office installation point before deploying PhotoDraw 2000 Version 2.
Toolbox The Office Resource Kit includes two white papers that describe how to deploy Office 2000 applications with Systems Management Server 1.2 or 2.0. See the Systems Management Server documentation section of the Toolbox and download either the O2kSMS12.exe or O2kSMS20.exe file.
