A collection of new administrative update files is now available for several Microsoft® Office XP and Microsoft Office 2000 applications. While most updates focus on security, many of them also provide improvements in performance, maintenance, and reliability.
The following list provides a summary of each update. For more information about each of the Office XP updates, see the Office XP Service Pack 1 download article. For the Office 2000 updates, click on their respective links to see more information.
- Office XP Activation Update: October 4, 200.
Provides the latest improvements in hardware identification for your version of Microsoft Office XP, preventing you from having to reactivate your copy of Office XP when unnecessary. (Activation is required only after the initial installation, or after significant changes to a computer’s hardware or configuration.)
- Outlook 2002 Administrative Update: October 4, 2001
Provides the latest security and performance improvements available for your version of Microsoft Outlook® 2002. The update includes improvements in password and certificate security, forms performance, and PST file management.
- PowerPoint 2002 Administrative Update: October 4, 2001
Provides the latest security and performance improvements available for your version of Microsoft PowerPoint® 2002. The focus of this update is on correcting a vulnerability that could allow malicious code to run in a PowerPoint file without warning. After you apply this update, PowerPoint will display a warning before opening a file containing macros.
- Excel 2002 Administrative Update: October 4, 2001
Provides the latest security and performance improvements available for your version of Microsoft Excel 2002. The focus of this update is on correcting a vulnerability that could allow malicious code to run in an Excel file without warning. After you apply this update, Excel will display a warning before opening a file containing macros. Other changes include improvements in charting, sorting behavior of international characters, and support for the Greek drachma in the Eurotool add-in.
- PowerPoint 2000 SR-1 Macro Modification Security Update
Provides a security update to address a vulnerability that could allow malicious code to run in a Microsoft PowerPoint® file without warning. After you apply this update, PowerPoint will display a warning before opening a file containing macros. A number of other small refinements are also included in this update, including improvements in slide show performance, formatting, and reliability.
- Excel 2000 SR-1 Macro Modification Security Update: April 25, 2002
Provides a security update to address a vulnerability that could allow malicious code to run in an Excel file without warning. After you apply this update, Excel will display a warning before opening a file containing macros. A number of other small refinements are also included in this update. Key changes include improvements in charting, printing, pivot tables, and specific error corrections in Japanese, Korean, and French versions.
