Import notes and voice recordings from a Pocket PC or Smartphone
 

Note  In order to copy notes or recordings from your Microsoft Windows Mobile-based Pocket PC or Windows Mobile-based Smartphone to Microsoft Office OneNote 2003, you must install and configure Microsoft ActiveSync version 3.7.1 or later on your computer. ActiveSync is the synchronization software for Windows Mobile–based Pocket PCs and Smartphones. You can download the latest version of Microsoft ActiveSync from the Microsoft Download Center.

Do one of the following:

ShowImport notes manually

  1. Connect your mobile device to your computer, and then start Microsoft Office OneNote 2003.

    If OneNote is already running, reconnect the mobile device to your computer.

  2. If this is the first time you are importing notes or recordings to OneNote, in the Copy from Pocket PC or Smartphone to OneNote dialog box, click No, copy notes and recordings only when I click Copy from Pocket PC or Smartphone on the Tools menu.
  3. If you have previously imported notes or recordings to OneNote, point to Copy from Pocket PC or Smartphone on the Tools menu, and then click Copy Notes and Recordings Now.

Note  If the ActiveSync Combine or Replace dialog box appears, click Cancel.

ShowImport notes or recordings automatically

  1. Connect your mobile device to your computer, and then start Microsoft Office OneNote 2003.

    If OneNote is already running, reconnect the mobile device to your computer.

  2. If this is the first time you are importing notes or recordings to OneNote, in the Copy from Pocket PC or Smartphone to OneNote dialog box, click Yes, copy notes and recordings automatically each time I connect my device to my computer and OneNote is open.
  3. If you have previously, manually imported notes or recordings to OneNote, point to Copy from Pocket PC or Smartphone on the Tools menu, and then click Copy Notes and recordings Automatically.

Notes

  • If the ActiveSync Combine or Replace dialog box appears, click Cancel.
  • To copy notes or recordings that you edited or created on your mobile device while it is connected to your computer, point to Copy from Pocket PC or Smartphone on the Tools menu, and then click Copy Notes and Recordings Now.
