Add or remove a note flag

You can apply note flags to paragraphs, drawing canvases, and pictures. You can also apply more than one flag to a single item. For example, you can apply a To Do flag and an Important flag to the same paragraph.

Do one of the following:

ShowAdd a note flag

  1. To display the flags so that you can access them quickly, on the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Note Flags.
  2. Place the insertion point in the paragraph that you want to flag.
  3. On the Note Flags toolbar, click the note flag you want. For example, to attach a check box to something that you want to follow up on, click Note Flag (To Do) Button image.

    ShowTip

You can use up to nine shortcut keys (CTRL+1 through CTRL+9) to apply note flags quickly. Use the arrow buttons in the Customize My Note Flags task pane to associate keyboard shortcuts with note flags that you use most often.

ShowRemove a note flag

  • To remove a note flag, place the insertion point in a paragraph, right-click, and then click Remove Note Flags from Selection on the shortcut menu.

    ShowTip

You can also quickly remove note flags from a paragraph by pressing CTRL+0.

Note  If you use a check box symbol for note flags, you can indicate that you have followed up on the item by clicking the box to place a check mark in it, either in the Note Flags Summary task pane or on the page containing the note flag. To remove the check mark, click the box again.
