About capturing a screen image

You can use Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 to take an image of all or part of your computer screen, and then insert it into your notes. These images— called screen clippings— can add visual details to your notes. For example, you might create a screen image of a schedule from a football team's Web site, and then paste it into your notes next to the team's statistics.

Creating a screen clipping

Note  The feature or functionality described in this topic is available only if you have installed Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 Service Pack 1. To learn more about the service pack and how to download it, see Service pack features in OneNote 2003.

Screen clippings are created by dragging the pointer to select a rectangular area, which can range from a 25-pixel square, to the entire height and width of your screen. Anything in the selected area appears in the image and is automatically added to your notes, as well as the Clipboard. This allows you to easily paste additional copies of the image onto other pages in your OneNote notebook or into another program.

Note  Because screen clippings are images, any text in the screen clipping is not searchable. For example, if you insert a screen clipping into your notes that includes the words "bus schedule," and then search on the word "schedule," the screen clipping will not appear in the search results.
