Capture and insert a screen image
 

You can take and insert a screen image, called a screen clipping, onto a page in your Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 notebook.

Note  The feature or functionality described in this topic is available only if you have installed Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 Service Pack 1. To learn more about the service pack and how to download it, see Service pack features in OneNote 2003.

Do one of the following:

ShowCapture an image when OneNote is open

  1. Place the insertion point in your notes where you want to add the image.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Screen Clipping.

    OneNote is minimized, and the last active window becomes visible.

  3. Drag the pointer to create a rectangular selection.

    ShowTips

    • You can drag the pointer in any direction when making a selection. For example, you can start from the lower right corner of the area you want to capture, and then drag the pointer to the upper left.
    • The image is also copied to the Clipboard.

    Note   If you want to capture and insert an image into a side note when the side note window is open, click Screen Clipping Button image on the Side Note toolbar.

ShowCapture an image when OneNote is closed

  1. Right-click the OneNote icon in the notification area of the Microsoft Windows taskbar, and then click Create Screen Clipping.
  2. Drag the pointer to create a rectangular selection.

    OneNote opens containing the image inserted in a side note page.

    ShowTips

    • You can drag the pointer in any direction when making a selection. For example, you can start from the lower right corner of the area you want to capture, and then drag the pointer to the upper left.
    • The image is also copied to the Clipboard.

Note  If the OneNote icon is not visible in the notification area of the Windows taskbar, on the Tools menu, click Options, under Category click Other, and then select the Place OneNote icon in the notification area of the taskbar check box.
