Create a table structure

In Microsoft Office OneNote 2003, you can use a horizontal outline structure to present information in a table format. When you create a horizontal outline structure, the leftmost column is the highest level in the outline hierarchy, and the rightmost column is the lowest level in the outline hierarchy. Although this structure is not the same as a table (table: One or more rows of cells commonly used to display numbers and other items for quick reference and analysis. Items in a table are organized into rows and columns.), you can use it to organize information in columns.

  1. Write the content of the first column, and then press TAB.
  2. Write the content of the next column.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To start a new column, press TAB.
    • To add a new paragraph to the current column, press ENTER.
    • To start a new row in the first column, press ENTER, and then press BACKSPACE to move back through the columns.

ShowTip

To make a column narrower or wider, place the insertion point in the column that follows it. Right-click the paragraph handle Button image, and then click Resize Previous Column on the shortcut menu.
