Maria, sales representative for a top office supply company, is in and out of the office all day long for her job. But she's never out of touch with her team or her schedule for long. In her travels, she carries her trusty Microsoft Windows Mobile-based Smartphone and depends on
Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 to keep her up-to-date. As Maria heads out for a busy day of meetings, see how the integration of Outlook, Microsoft Office OneNote, and her
Windows Mobile-based Smartphone keeps her moving forward on her projects all day long.
Preparing for the day ahead
Before she leaves the office for a meeting with a client, Contoso Inc., Maria grabs her Windows Mobile-based Smartphone from its cradle where it keeps all of her valuable information from Outlook up-to-date. She's prepared to spend the day out of the office, because she knows she's always in touch.
Making it happen from the road
As Maria heads downstairs to catch a taxicab to her meeting, she receives a call on her Windows Mobile-based Smartphone from an administrative assistant at Fabrikam, Inc. "Can Maria shift tomorrow afternoon's meeting from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.?" No need to return to the office — Maria puts the assistant on hold and quickly opens her Outlook Calendar. On her Windows Mobile-based Smartphone, Maria consults her schedule and sees that she is free at 2 P.M. tomorrow.

Closing the taxicab door behind her, Maria gives the driver directions to Contoso and then returns to her Outlook Calendar. She updates the meeting in her schedule and then confirms with the Fabrikam assistant. With over-the-air synchronization*, Maria's Outlook Calendar is now updated with the meeting change.
Making the most of her ride to Contoso, Maria gathers her thoughts for the morning meeting ahead. To capture a last-minute idea, she opens the Notes program on her Windows Mobile-based Smartphone and adds a couple of key points to remind herself to bring up in the meeting.
All the right information, right at hand
As she arrives at Contoso, Inc., Maria finds that she's 20 minutes early for her 10:00 A.M. meeting. To take advantage of the unexpected time, she opens her Outlook Contacts on her Windows Mobile-based Smartphone to find the office number for Nate Sun, her main contact at Contoso. Maybe he can fill her in on which way the executive board is leaning. It can't hurt to get an idea of what to expect!
Ever on the lookout for updates from her team, Maria checks her e-mail on the elevator up to Nate's office. She pauses in the tenth floor atrium as she reads that her assistant needs Maria's approval to order additional samples for an upcoming trade show. "Absolutely!" Maria quickly sends back in e-mail. She scans her other messages to see than none need immediate attention and heads to Nate's office.
She and Nate catch up on things for a few minutes and then head out together for their meeting. They're in the elevator before they realize that they don't remember the meeting room number. Maria quickly opens her Outlook Calendar on her Windows Mobile-based Smartphone and checks the meeting request. It's in conference room 6632! Both are relieved to know they won't have to awkwardly walk in late.
During the meeting, Maria's last-minute idea from the taxicab ride is well-received. She adds a couple of new figures to her notes in her Notes program and saves them for discussion with her team later.
Wrapping it all up
In the cab ride back to the office, Maria checks her e-mail again. She sees a note from her manager inquiring about the meeting. "Success!" she replies and smiles. Then, so she doesn't have to waste time back at the office, she runs through the rest of her messages and is able to read and delete several low-priority items before she returns.
Back in her office, before she calls to order lunch, Maria pops her Windows Mobile-based Smartphone back into its cradle so that she can download her notes in OneNote. She needs to get these to her team right away. After they're downloaded, she organizes them and sends them to her team. It's as easy as clicking a button to add them to an Outlook message and send them on their way.
Now she can relax and eat lunch. After such a productive morning, she's able to enjoy it!
