Scan text or images into notes

If you have a scanner, you can add all sorts of things to your notebooks — old photographs, business cards, receipts, even napkin scribbles.

 Note    Scanning isn’t available if you’re using the 64-bit version of OneNote on a 64-bit version of Windows.
 

  1. Click the page where you’d like the scanned image to appear and click Insert > Scanned Image.

  1. Choose a scan resolution by clicking either Web Quality (best choice for on-screen display only) or Print Quality (best choice if you plan to print the page). Your scanner may also show you additional options.
  2. Click Insert.
     

 Tip    If you’ve scanned a picture that contains text, you can have OneNote read and copy the text from the picture. Right-click the scan, and then click Copy Text from Picture. Now click anywhere else on your notes page and press Ctrl+V to paste the copied text. The accuracy of the text recognition depends on the quality of the scan and on the clarity of the scanned text. Handwritten text is usually not recognized, so stick to typed or printed text for best results.
