Troubleshoot e-mail verification for Office Live Workspace

You can sign up for Microsoft Office Live Workspace beta on the Office Live Workspace sign-up page. There you are asked to provide an existing e-mail address that you will use to sign in to Office Live Workspace each time you want to use it. This e-mail address becomes the primary address for your account. Office Live Workspace will send any communications to that e-mail address, including notifications about the workspaces and documents that are shared with you.

After you complete the sign-up process for Microsoft Office Live Workspace, you may be asked to confirm that you are the owner of the e-mail address that you used to sign up for your account. Additionally, if you change the e-mail address for the account that you used to sign up, you must also confirm that you are the owner of the new e-mail address. This simple e-mail verification process protects you and other Office Live Workspace users from the fraudulent use of e-mail addresses.

For information about the sign-up process, see Sign up for Office Live Workspace.

Verify my address after changing my account e-mail address

When you change the e-mail address that is associated with your Office Live Workspace account, you must verify the new e-mail address. To do this, you must have the verification e-mail message resent to the new e-mail address.

To request another verification e-mail message:

  1. Sign in to Office Live Workspace using your new e-mail address and password.
  2. On the Check Your E-mail Inbox page, click request a new verification e-mail message.
  3. In your inbox, look for a message from Office Live Workspace. Click the link in the e-mail message, and follow the instructions.

Find my verification e-mail message

If, after you have signed up for a new Office Live Workspace account, you do not receive an e-mail message from the Office Live Workspace team, try one of the following:

  • Check your Junk Mail folder:  The message may have been mistakenly delivered to your Junk Mail folder instead of your inbox.
  • Check your Deleted Items folder:  You may have accidentally deleted the e-mail message.
  • Check your inbox e-mail address:  You may be logged on using a different e-mail address than the one you used to sign up for an Office Live Workspace account.
  • Request another verification e-mail:  To have another verification e-mail message sent to you, do the following:
    1. Sign in to Office Live Workspace using your e-mail address and password.
    2. On the Check Your E-mail Inbox page, click request a new verification e-mail message.
    3. In your inbox, look for a message from Office Live Workspace. Click the link in the e-mail message, and follow the instructions to verify your e-mail address.
  • Check with your e-mail provider: As part of an anti-spam effort, your e-mail provider may block the verification e-mail messages from reaching your inbox. Contact your e-mail provider to learn ways to unblock these e-mail messages.

Sign up using an e-mail address that is not associated with an e-mail inbox

If you signed up for an Office Live Workspace account using an e-mail address that is not associated with an e-mail inbox, you will not be able to activate your Office Live Workspace account. You must sign up again using an e-mail address that has an associated e-mail inbox. If you prefer, you can instead create a free Web e-mail account, and then use that new e-mail address to sign up for Office Live Workspace.

Stop repeated e-mail verification requests

If you have already verified your e-mail address, but you are asked to verify your address again when you try to sign in to Office Live Workspace, Office Live Workspace may have temporarily saved your unverified e-mail address. Try signing out of Office Live Workspace. Then click the link in your sharing invitation, and follow the instructions to sign in again.

If requests for e-mail verification still appear, you may have additional e-mail addresses linked to your Windows user account. These additional e-mail addresses may not have passed the e-mail verification process. To remove unverified e-mail addresses from your account:

  1. Browse to the Windows Live ID sign-in page, and sign in using your Office Live Workspace e-mail address.
  2. On the Account Summary page, under Linked Windows Live IDs, click Manage your linked IDs.
  3. On the Manage Linked IDs page, next to the e-mail address that you want to remove, click Unlink.
  4. On the Unlink ID page, click Unlink.
